Carbofire – Advancing Fire Protection for RC Structures Strengthened with CFRP Systems
The Carbofire project (PTDC/ECM/118271/201, funded by Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) and conducted between 2012–2015, focused on addressing critical concerns surrounding the fire performance of reinforced concrete (RC) structures strengthened with carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) systems. These systems, while widely used for structural reinforcement in bridges, face challenges in their application to buildings due to their vulnerability at elevated temperatures.
